The start.. Like goo goo ga ga… Like da da or ma ma.. The start… The start like the first time you fell and realized someone was looking. Then, you burst out in an even louder cry… The start.. The start like the pain associated with the growth of your first tooth… Damn I wonder why we now run away from pain… The start when little things made you happy.. Like your favorite toy you created… Like the happiness you create with a single smile and a room of adults sighed. Now you walk in and smile at adults only to see the misery in their eyes….. I wondered what changed? The start like when a pinky held the world of promises together…. Now promises are expected to be broken. What changed? The start when challenges were learning the ABC song and counting to 10… The start when people held you, praised you, and loved you for accomplishments. Now they silently hold grudges against you for wanting and getting more. Dam I’m happy they didn’t get mad when we walked before scheduled. The start… Back to the start. Take me! Take me!

Kali, poet extraordinaire stopped by Jun E Caniel Boutique today on her way up from Tampa, FL to show us some Jun E love! And she wears her Jun E Unleashed tee so well…Jun E!
Just like it used to be.. Wonderful! That giddy feeling inside that makes you just want to smile.. That feeling of excitement in your stomach before a big game.. That bell rings and we run aimlessly to recces… Come on you hear that bell.. Wonderful.. Eating the vegetables to get to dessert… Boy, and you thought those were rough days… Getting your homework done so you can play outside… Wonderful… A smile from a stranger that makes you break out and imitate creation… Wonderful… Screaming your favorite songs at the top of your lungs and it actually sounds good… Wonderful… Lol getting the note back and “yes” is checked… Wonderful… Take you back to the days of real creation… When you laid in bed and dreamed… Oh what a feeling… I call it wonderful! Close your eyes and count to 10 and the whole world changes… The days of the 5 second rule… Food falls and you can eat it within 5 seconds.. Lol some of you had 20 secs… I’m not judging… Just wonderful..
I’m guilty ’cause I know some of you have grown out of those days, but I still live it… I can feel the love move throughout my body as the guitar strings pull and my finger hit these keys. Wonderful… There’s nothing like living in the present moment and creating the things that you want. I challenge you to live that wonderful life. I just want to spread this feeling… The feeling of living, laughing, loving and creating your legacy…. See you at the top! Wonderful!
Move over Spring, Summer is here, and it’s time to bring out those electric blues, vibrant yellows, shocking pinks, and cool greens! Summer is the time of the year when adding colors to your wardrobe is a must.
If you know Jun E Caniel, then you know we love colors. Our clothing shines brightest in the summer. We like to consider it our time of year…
Today I wanted to channel my inner street and paired my khaki cargo shorts with Jun E Caniel ‘s lemon yellow Africa Love tee. And what’s a summer without yellow or as I like to call it, lemon?? As most people know lemon is summer’s “it” color. Matched with any other hue, lemon can bring out anyone’s outfit. I decided to rock some navy blue and off white sneaker wedges by ALDO. My sneakers are very fall attire but I must say I enjoy being quirky. I never have a reason behind what I wear…I’m just one of those people who wears what she chooses without any explanation as to why.
Tangelo color belt and electric blue on my nails. Ahhhhhh….I just love SUMMER. My earrings were actually an old gift from my high school friend. Her grandmother was in to making jewelry and handmade me these custom earrings with my nickname ‘Vira’ inside. The dice are so colorful and I love them.
Run over to Jun E Caniel now and grab their latest gear! Soak up some Jun E sunshine while you’re there!
We know! You really don’t hate us but you hate what we represent, because it reminds you of who your not. We are free to be! You live by rules, books, and the words of men. Don’t knock us cause we choose to not be bound by chains, and the rhetoric of the world.. We choose happiness, progress, prosperity and love for all. That includes you! You sit in your offices and are entertained by our free lives. Which then you disguise as your disdain for our choices, our hairstyle, the way we dress, tattoo’s and even the way we talk. For someone who has it going on you watch too much, and we are too much of a topic. Do you love yourself? Well we love you anyway.. You’re never enough for yourself, are you? You’re always too fat, ugly, or don’t have enough things or money…. If what you are is what you have, then when what you have is gone… What are you? We’re just Jun E! You live a life according to the box in which you’ve been placed. Do you love your place? Oh, don’t answer that; the people around you probably will be upset if you go out of bounds…
Imagine how incredible everything would be if it was all done by someone passionate behind it. Imagine if you love who you truly were. Imagine if you didn’t have to live up to the things you are told to be. Imagine if you loved yourselves unconditionally, and didn’t have to hide your curiosity. Imagine if you were stripped naked of your possessions… Hmmm.. What would be your worth then? Just a thought…
They are finally here! Jun E Caniel’s spring collection of limited edition t-shirts. The one featured here today is called Africa Unite. Many of us who are a part of the Jun E family are Bob Marley lovers, and it is my assumption that this is the reason behind the title and inspiration for this shirt design…..But we never know what’s running through the mind of co-owner/designer Legend. She’s always full of surprises and as a fan of her art work I love it.
In my opinion, this collection of designs is personal. If you ever seen previous designs from Jun E Caniel, in my opinion they aren’t as awesome as these. Yes, I am picking favorites hahaha. When I saw the sketches being transformed from paper, to Adobe, and then to actually being on a shirt, all I could say was “Wow”. Legend is really talented and I’m so glad that the outside world will be able to embrace this part of her and look good while doing it.
Here are a few pictures of me sporting Africa Unite. Today, was a very laid back day in the House of Jun E Caniel and that’s exactly the vibe that’s being portrayed in this photos, but do not get discouraged hahaha AJ Styles will be back soon!
It seems like every city the Jun E Caniel team visits, we get hijacked. Coming to San Francisco to spread the brand proves to be no different. After a long, successful day at the Green Festival we started to walk back to our hotel. This walk in itself was interesting with darkness settling in the city and the emergence of very off-beat characters. In front of us was an older woman who we assumed was also walking back from the Green Festival. At some point while walking, we passed her, but she was never far behind us.
We could hear her loud sneezes as we walk, and we would look back and say “Bless you”. There was a string of off-beat characters moon walking, skipping, and talking to themselves on every block and we both would look back and check on the woman. Finally, at a crosswalk as we observed a young man skipping and dancing in the street as he almost got hit by a car. None of this seemed to phase the man and he continued on his way as the three of us began to talk to one another about what had just happened. We asked the woman what there was to do in the area and before we knew it, we were following her up Market Street.
This offer of a walking tour of San Francisco at night was one we couldn’t resist. As we walked toward, Rose commentated every moment of the way. “Here is our city hall it is so beautiful, and you must come back during the day to see it. But look how beautiful it is all lit up now!” Next was the old mint where they used to make money before the earthquake and fire of 1906. Her excitement was intoxicating and contagious. Walking by an ad on a building, Rose pointed and laughed at a picture of a woman’s feet and said “How’d you like to tickle those toes?” Laughingly she apologized for her silliness. She is a retired kindergarten teacher and can’t help it.
We ventured a ways to Westfield Mall, which is unbelievably huge and has the most beautiful dome ceiling. Rose shared with us the history of the building and some of the stores there. After leaving the mall, Rose excitedly brought us to a record shop called Rasputin Music, where grungy looking young men checked your bags at the front and operated the elevator inside. Side note: Whenever you enter the elevator, the guy operating it will be playing only his favorite tunes, which most will likely never have heard before. Beside this amazing record shop is Blondie’s where you can get pizza by the slice. We entered hotels where presidents have stayed and we relished in perusing the pictures and memorabilia from long ago. Our last stops included John’s Grill & Steakhouse (to see the maltese falcon from the 1941 movie “The Maltese Falcon”) and the park at Union Square.
What an amazing time! At the end, we were very tired but it was well worth our time to have met and conversed with such a beautiful person as Rose. We are nothing but mirrors, reflecting what we have inside on others. Rose took the time out to make sure that we were educated on her city. You could feel the love, prosperity, and happiness that she possessed in her life. We will always remember Rose and her Jun E love for her city. She had us whirling through the streets of downtown San Francisco till we were breathless but still wanting more. Thank you, Rose for sharing what you love most about this amazing place! What a blessing you are!
Let us not forget the power of our words, not only when conversing with ourselves but also when speaking to others. Be mindful of your words and the tone with which you speak them. In this time where “keeping it real” is the cool thing to do and an effective way to gain respect, do not use this as an excuse to say whatever you want to whomever you want. Keeping it real does not mean being rude or disrespectful. Do not forget the Golden Rule, for some of you can easily dish it, but have a lot of trouble taking it.
It is possible to keep it real and stay true without verbally abusing others. Everything we say is energy and it cannot be taken back. Be thoughtful in your actions as well as your speech, and be sure you are emitting the kind of energy you would like reciprocated. There can be life in your words! People can be embraced and empowered by your words. Keep it positive and keep it Jun E!!!
