You get what you ask for!

In Uncategorized on December 30, 2010 at 8:14 pm

Oh the power of words! In life we all have desires. I have discovered in  life, that we get what we are looking for. The key is to train our thoughts to focus on the things we desire and get it off of the things we don’t desire.  Our thoughts are the starting point to our destiny. We must make sure we guard our thoughts with our very lives. Some people spend most of their time guarding people and things such as cars, houses, credit scores, jobs, titles etc. The most significant thing a person will produce is a direct result of their thoughts. We must guard our beautiful minds against the propaganda of the news, the vulgarity in music, films and other streams of the media. Its a trap, and once you start in the rat race its hard to get out. We become brain washed and dependent on garbage.  Greatness begins and ends in the mind.  The next time you ask for something, remember that you will get exactly what you want. A Jun E poet has correctly stated this universal truth through these lines

I bargained with Life for a penny

And Life would pay no more,

However I begged at evening

When I counted my scanty store.

For Life is a just employer,

He gives you what you ask,

But once you have set the wages,

Why, you must bear the task

I worked for a menial’s hire,

Only to learn, dismayed,

That any wage I had asked of Life,

Life would have willingly paid

Living for a Cause Vol. 1

In Jun E Caniel Conversation Series on December 30, 2010 at 6:40 am

As the new year approaches, I find myself thinking about ways to improve. I have found that the curse in being great is, never being satisfied with one’s current state, and at times an unhealthy desire to always demand better in my life and  the others around me.

Here are just a few things we should consider when living for a cause. As we muse around in the playground of our minds for ideas on improving,  we might want to think about our associations and the company we keep. Think about the types of people that text and call us on a regular basis. We should even think about the places we eat, volunteer, the streets on which we choose to drive, the neighborhood in which we live, and the music we put into our brains. Do these people and things line up with your vision?  Let us not forget to consider the people we call for advise. Look at what their lives have produced. It’s interesting that people will choose their doctors and lawyers with such scrutiny  but not the people closest to them. You see, we must be going in the same direction or eventually there will be a disconnect, or worse.  We could end up assimilating with the population of mediocrity.  That would be a true disaster.

I decided a long time ago to dedicate my life to something greater than myself. There are a  few characteristics of people willing to live for a greater cause.  Most of them live with a purpose worth the price, a vision bigger than life, and a power greater than themselves. Every person gives their life for what they believe. I must admit that it’s human to stand with the crowd, however it’s divine to stand alone. I challenge all to stand and live for what you believe in. I think we all stand. The difference is some choose to stand in darkness, while others chose to stand in the light. We must operate in bravery.  Barely surviving is not an option. Mere survival saps our freedom, creating robots.  Mere survival hinders us from completing ourselves. We must LIVE and we must be free! Free to believe that we have purpose in our bodies. Free to love ourselves unconditionally! Free to express ourselves socially, emotionally, artistically, intellectually, etc. Free! Let’s live! Let the LION loose!  Stay Jun E!

Love Vol 1

In Uncategorized on December 29, 2010 at 6:40 am

Love! It’s 12:51 A.M. and I have love on my mind. It’s a feeling I would never trade for the world. The greatest feeling in this world is to know that you are loved and cared for, and it doesn’t matter if that love comes from a spouse, friend or family member. Oh, the status of being loved! The type of people that will look you in the eyes and tell you whats right. That’s Love! People who might not agree with you, but believe in you and love you enough to join your endeavors. That’s Love! People that are with you win, lose or draw. That’s love! People who might make mistakes, but have the courage to tell you and apologize. That’s love! Love is timeless, and never goes out of style. Love heals and conquers all. Love is unconditional! Love is peace! Even when things seem very hectic, we find peace in knowing we are loved. Love is Jun E! Love is an essential part of living.

Where would you be if someone did not love you? I am committed everyday to let people know that I love them. Love is words, actions and thoughts. A simple gesture like the opening of a door for a stranger. Or a broad smile to a neighbor.  Is this love that I’m feeling? Love is the acknowledgment of someone by calling them by their name. Love is a warm embrace when you are down. A card in the mail with some flattering words. A nice song that picks you up. Love is the locking of eyes , a salute from soldier to soldier. Love is the shaking of the head in disapproval. Love is building something that will last forever, or creating something out of nothing. Love is the taste of tears. Love is that burning desire inside of you to be great. Love is a sigh, followed by a breathe of fresh air.  Love is the cold wind of the winter hitting your face. Love is the wave before the boarding of an airplane. hmmmm…. I wonder if it could be  the changes of the season. Love is the falling of the leaves, kissing  and nourishing the earth. Love is serving the unfortunate. Love is global. Love transcends, sex, race, and ethnicity. Love is Jun E Caniel. What is Love to you?

Buses

In Thoughts on December 27, 2010 at 4:42 am

They say where there is struggle, there is life. They also say that we must overcome adversity if we want to be successful. For a long time I have been trying to figure out who is “they”.  Nevertheless  my tireless climb to the proverbial top has taught me to expect problems. I find that my journey has been like a long bus drive. On the way you make many stops. I find that you meet people and then their stop comes and it’s time to say good bye. I find that sometimes the lights are green and sometimes their red.  Some parts of the city rains and then the bus enters into sun shine. I’m looking out the window just thinking about how much gas the bus has left. But on the way the bus periodically stops to refuel. I sigh, thinking just when I was about to run out of gas here comes some fuel.

Looking out the window at all the people, just thinking about stopping. I can’t stop and I won’t because I have mountains to move. There are people left to inspire, people to learn from, share talks, and share memories with. Every time we get discouraged we have to find something inside of ourselves that propels us to go one more mile, yard, etc. I think at this time in my life it’s time to change buses. The old bus has gone beyond its years. After all its 2010 and I am still filled with all those dreams and ambitions. Just bursting from the seam like an over blown balloon.  Until next time, I will be at the bus stop waiting to change buses.  See you at the Top!

Leading to Happiness

In Thoughts on December 22, 2010 at 7:51 am

A wise man once said, “the grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, someone to love, and something to hope for.” I sit here just thinking about life with this quote in mind. What are we doing with our time? Who and what do you love? What do you hope for? These are among three questions I ask myself on a daily basis. I find that life is pretty simple when we put it in perspective. As human beings we tend to make things a lot more complicated than it ought to be. I believe that everyone has the capacity to be Jun E!(great). Are you?

Promises to keep Vol 2

In Thoughts on December 13, 2010 at 5:38 pm

I’m traveling on 95, thinking about life. Life is very interesting, depends on your perspective. It’s interesting the impact that our environment has on us. It’s interesting the impact your thoughts have on you. It’s interesting how something as simple as knowing yourself is one of the keys to life. Life!  I’ve discovered that although we are all walking and breathing, we are not all living. Well here are a few more promises  to keep  in order to live a Jun E life.

Promise yourself to be strong that nothing disturb your peace of mind.

Promise to be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own

Promise yourself to live every minute like it was your last

Promise to give so much time to improve yourself that you don’t have time to criticize others

Promise to forget the mistakes of the past and press on to greater achievement in the future.

Be Jun E!

The Truth About Ducks

In Thoughts on December 11, 2010 at 6:03 am

Earlier tonight I received a phone call that inspired me to write this blog.  On the other end of the phone was a young, passionate, hungry, and ambitious man. He was frustrated! Frustrated that everyone did not approach life with the same intensity that he does. Frustrated because these days each minute seems like a year past, and he has no time to waste.  He carries a whole city and family on his back with just one vehicle, stressed out that life is not moving fast enough. He’s stressed because it seems like everyone around him does not have the same sense of urgency.  This is the typical  life of an eagle surrounded by ducks. You know, it is interesting when you’re  an eagle surrounded by ducks. They all flop together, sitting in corners giggling, and encouraging each other to be mediocre. They band together against anyone who would have the balls to stand against mediocrity, or who would dare declare big dreams aloud.  This behavior is not foreign at all. You can find it in sports, the workplace, the military, etc. People have the same inner makeup, just different titles in front of their names.  So what are the young eagles to do? Do we fight all the ducks? Do we turn totally radical and kill all the ducks?  NO!  But what should the eagle do?

To the young man and everyone in the world singled out because they choose to be great, I say continue on the road less traveled.  Be the leader you are every second of the day.  The world worships and loves your originality and go-getter spirit.   Remember where there is struggle there is life. Do not accept and join the crowd of mediocrity. You see, deep down inside the ducks want to be eagles. There are far more ducks than there are eagles, so they settle for what they see the most. They try to bring you down for your ambition. They mention the fact that they will get a degree and other trinkets that represent so-called success.  This is typical of the ducks to conform to societal standards and achieve the norm.  These trinkets are easily achieved and provide the shelter and security they need.   The funny thing is they are defined by societal things, while you are concerned about making your own impressions in the world. You are admired for who you are, not the things you obtain. You must keep your eyes on the target.  You have so much promise, so much to give the world.  To the young man on the phone, we love you and keep pushing.  We believe in you 100% and you are going to accomplish all of your goals. The people who do not support you, deep down inside wish that they could be you. They figure since they don’t have the guts they might as well go against you.  Further more, you are a threat and a reminder to them that they probably don’t have what it takes to be an eagle.  Do everything with the passion and intensity that you always do, and live your life as Jun E as possible.  We LOVE you for your drive and intensity.  And we LOVE you for being an eagle.  Spread your Jun E wings and show those ducks how it’s supposed to be done!

Promises to Keep vol 1

In Uncategorized on December 10, 2010 at 4:30 am

Promises! I remember when a promise was the world to me.  My friends or family would ask, “pinky promise?” I laugh, thinking to myself  this is  how we did business as kids.  Do you remember your first pinky promise? As we got older we replaced this process with contracts, and handshakes. Tonight I’m reminded of promises we must keep for ourselves, in order to find and preserve our Jun E!  I leave you with a few promises from a few wise people.

Promise yourself that you will talk health, happiness and prosperity as often as possible.

Promise yourself to make all your friends know there is something in them that is special and that you value it.

Promise to think only the best, to work only for the best, and expect only the best in yourself and others.

Promise yourself to be strong that nothing disturb your piece of mind.

Promise to be too large for worry. to noble for anger, to strong for fear,  and too happy to permit troubles to press on you.

Until next time, we love you and stay Jun E!

Live well, laugh often, and love much!

In Random Conversation on December 8, 2010 at 3:30 am

During a random conversation with a stranger, I noticed a powerful slogan in the background. It read: Live well, laugh often, and love much! My brain immediately went back to childhood.  It’s so interesting, the life and perspective of a young child. Growing up I had everything. No toys, so instead I created them with my mind. No bubble bath, so I created it with ivory soap. No bat, so we took old mop sticks and tennis balls and create a game. No hoop, so we took an old milk crate and nailed it to the lamp post. No desert, so we put cool aid in a cup and froze it and called it ” Special”.

Its, funny now but looking back at my childhood made me become a problem solver, entrepreneur, and inventor. Just walking around with a grin from ear to ear, even though I was bare footed and had holes in my pants. As I look into my life now as a young entrepreneur, I realize that its only through trials and risk that we learn.  I also discovered that  simplicity is the key to life. The same bravado we used as kids to achieve our dreams, works today!   I always believed I was the exception, and that everything would workout exactly how it’s seen in my mind. Today, I lay in bed each night looking at the Jun E Caniel empire grow. It was cool creating when I was a kid, and I must say it feels even better now. Live life Jun E!

Greatest Text Message

In Thoughts on December 8, 2010 at 2:50 am

It read: “Just wanted to show you the car. It’s been a blessing to the family.” “Thank you very much”!

Four years ago we gave away a 1980 Mercedes Benz, to a family of five. At this time the family had no transportation and the husband was forced to catch rides to work 40 miles away. We had three cars at the time and figured that the family would benefit.   The above text message was received at 4:34 pm while we were in transit to serve the homeless, our usual Sunday afternoon routine.  For a second I became emotional, just thinking about how genuine and grateful the family is .  It just reminds me of the true meaning of life, giving. In life I have discovered that we always get what we give.  We are so fortunate to be blessed with health, strength, vision, love and the ability to give. To the people in the world, we thank you for all the inspiration that you have given us. To the people in the struggle, get out and get in the prosperity of life. We gravitate towards what we want. Words project images, so we must speak what we want and trust me, eventually it will be before your eyes.  Love life! Live Jun E!
